The New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) builds and renovates public schools throughout all of the boroughs. We believe that schools should be efficiently designed and constructed; they should be safe, attractive and environmentally sound. The SCA’s responsibilities span the life of each project (new schools, additions, and capital improvements to existing schools) from planning, real estate, budgeting, scoping, and designing, to construction completion.
The SCA is seeking a Furniture and Equipment Coordinator who is responsible for ensuring the provision of school furnishings that meet established standards for each new and renovation project.
Responsibilities:
Assists professional staff with architectural work relating to the placement of furniture and equipment including preparation of 1/4" scale room layouts and standard room activity lists.
Converts unique furniture and equipment requirements into new standard room layouts and activity lists.
Reviews and coordinates purchase order requisitions.
Ensures that project furniture budgets are within designated furniture and equipment project cost estimates.
Maintains reference library of alternate manufacturers and distributors of school furniture and equipment to be considered in future solicitations.
Participates in development of procedures for the testing of specific school and pupil products for future use.
Presents tested products for review and approval by the Authority and Department of Education.
Monitors performance of selected products purchased by the Authority.
Updates the appropriate furniture inventory for Department of Education use.
Performs related duties, as assigned.
Requirements: Baccalaureate degree or a satisfactory combination of education and experience. Experience in furniture and equipment purchasing, interior design or experience in school furnishings is a plus. Excellent communication, time management, multi-tasking and prioritization skills strongly desired. Great attention to detail to ensure data integrity is a must. A valid driver’s license is preferred.

With less than two years of active City or SCA service: Appointment Rate Salary: $65,128
With at least two years of active and continuous City or SCA service: Incumbent Rate Salary: $74,897
