Stantec’s New England Transportation group is looking for a motivated and experienced Construction Inspector. You will work collaboratively as part of a project team comprised of designers, contractors, project stakeholders, and the client owner. Field and office tasks will be performed under the direction of our Field Team Lead and Project Manager.

The position will report full-time to the field office in East Boston, MA to support the multi-year construction of one of the most complex infrastructure projects in the region. Following this project assignment, you will have the potential to transition to other challenging projects and roles as you grow with our team and the company. We are looking for a team member who has a positive can-do attitude, problem solving skills, is safety conscious, and enjoys working in the field.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Monitor daily construction activity for conformance with the contract documents.
• Identify and document non-conforming construction, or potential delays and cost over-runs as required.
• Observe and report unsafe conditions to the project team.
• Verify the performance of 3rd Party Testing.
• Monitor and document daily as-built quantities.
• Track labor, equipment, and materials associated with work that is deemed outside of the project scope.
• Maintain detailed field books that include inspection activities, daily occurrences, client direction, contractor decisions, etc.
• Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly field reports, photos and videos, and correspondence.
• Review contractor work plans.
• Participate in weekly, and as needed, job meetings with the owner and contractor.
• Attend daily 6:30AM meeting in the field office.

• Site/field experience overseeing roadway, structures, and utility construction projects for a construction management firm, contractor, architect/designer, or owner.
• Ability to understand contract documents and focus on technical details.
• Understanding of scheduling, construction sequence, and traffic management.
• Schedule flexibility to accommodate standard day shifts (0600-1500), occasional off-hour shifts, and working until the day’s operations are complete (may be more than 8 hours/day and/or 40 hours/week).
• Good oral and written communication skills in field, office and virtual environments.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams and disciplines.
• OSHA 10 Certification. If hired, ability to obtain prior to deployment on-site is required.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel) and Bluebeam/Adobe.

Education and Experience

• Degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and construction experience.
• 4+ years of experience preferred
