Under direction, performs a wide variety of advanced professional duties in facilitating and coordinating the development and implementation of technology solutions to meet enterprise and departmental business and operational requirements; brings together department technical specialists to develop detailed, integrated business process requirements and specifications; works with cross-functional teams and IT staff to plan, recommend and install technology solutions; provides project leadership and oversight; and performs related duties as assigned.
Senior Business Systems Analyst is the advanced professional class in the Business Systems Analyst class series. Incumbents perform a variety of complex and highly responsible analytical, internal consulting and project leadership/oversight duties to enable the District/SNWA and various departments to achieve business, operational and public service objectives efficiently and effectively. While the work of this class requires broad based IT technical knowledge and experience, the focus of incumbents' work is on developing in-depth understanding of business and operational requirements to formulate sound technology solutions. Incumbents must be able to bring together department process experts and IT technical specialists to develop agreed-upon solutions and to provide project leadership and oversight required for project success. Work requires demonstrated business analysis capabilities and strong critical thinking and communication skills, as well as the ability to integrate ideas and effort of technical and non-technical project team members to achieve expected results.
Senior Business Systems Analyst is distinguished from Master Business Systems Analyst in that incumbents in the latter class perform a variety of advanced, expert-level analytical, internal consulting and project leadership/management duties in the analysis, design, development and implementation of technology solutions to meet enterprise-wide and departmental business function and operational requirements. Senior Business Systems Analyst is further distinguished from Senior Applications Developer in that incumbents in the former class, while expected to have some programming knowledge and experience, do not perform complex application development and programming duties.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, management information systems or a closely related field; and five years of progressively responsible professional business systems analysis experience including advising clients on technology solutions and performing basic project oversight responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in a government or public utility setting is highly desirable.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
A valid Nevada driver's license and ability to maintain insurability under the District's Vehicle Insurance Policy may be required for certain assignments.
The ideal candidate will have experience evaluating project management business processes to identify process improvement, designing project management workflows and configuring e-Builder project management software, training on use of project management software; will demonstrate active listening skills and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical staff.
