Manage day-to-day operations to ensure the timely execution of assigned projects in the SMC portfolio of construction projects.
May manage day-to-day construction management activities including major renovations of existing casino properties and other ground up commercial construction.
Leads and promotes a culture of safe work conditions and holds team to meeting safety standards
Understands and implements site quality control and adherence to plans and specifications to effectively deliver ground up new construction and Core & Shell construction projects.
Manages within budgetary and operational objectives of the design and development team and monitors results according to these objectives.
Notifies executive leadership team to inform the SMC executives of the activities, results and developments that could have an impact on objectives and activities of other departments.
Collaborates with large professional teams (project/asset managers, architectural/design teams, construction and cost teams) on complex development projects.
Reviews contracts and ensures that bid documents and contracts encompass the complete scope coverage.
Ensures the coordination and development of approved architectural and engineering construction drawings with respect to budget, schedule and constructability.
Partners with General Contractors, sub-contractors, construction-associated consultants, and vendors to ensure conformance with contracts.
Enforces contractor and subcontractor compliance with applicable building, safety and Tribal codes and regulations.
Tracks hard and soft cost expenditures against project budgets and contracts.
Documents projects and attends meetings as necessary to keep projects on schedule.
Complete projects within budget and schedule.
Inspects projects to ensure all work performed is to contract design specifications and in accordance with our safety standards.
Serves as a primary communication conduit for priorities, provides guidance, evaluates performance, clarifies issues, identifies solutions, and communicates goals with Construction and Development team.
Develops relationships with senior management and business leaders across the organization to gain and maintain a robust understanding of the Tribe’s needs.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field is required.
Continuing Education in Design, Construction, and Corporate Real Estate topics including sustainability and innovative workplace practices desirable. LEED accreditation desirable.
Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction and/or Construction Management overseeing large, diverse and iconic hospitality, entertainment and mixed-use developments.
Minimum of eight (8) years direct supervisory experience of management teams and individual contributors required.
Must be culturally competent and effective in a multi-cultural environment.
Effective at presenting information and responding to questions and/or concerns from management, staff, customers, public groups, regulatory agencies, and/or the Business Committee.
Strong leadership and people management skills required with good motivational and collaboration emphasis; communicates change effectively, overcomes resistance and builds commitment.
Organized and able to effectively manage multiple, diverse tasks and adhere to tight deadlines.
Experience with organizational transformation, including the development and implementation of effective operating models in large-scale, complex organizations.
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
License/registration preferred in a minimum of three of the following: Real Estate Management, Architecture, Development, Engineering, Construction and Construction Management.
A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.
