T.H. Easter Consulting is conducting an executive search for an Estimator. Our Client is a Design Build, Construction Management and General Contracting firm, located in Washington D.C. They are recognized as an emerging leader in Educational, Municipal and Commercial facility construction. Sources leads, screens bid requests for best match for company and generates a minimum of $20,000,000 in revenue annually for jobs typically ranging $1-$20M at Company acceptable margins;
Attends pre-bid meetings, conducts site inspections, prepares RFIs and collaborates with field managers, project managers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate data collection for competitive bid generation;
Conducts take-offs, prepares cost estimates, develops preliminary project schedules and participates with project manager in the buy-outs all divisions / scopes;
Stays informed of most current product, systems knowledge, industry practices and technology tools;
Prepares and submits attractive, accurate and competitive bid packages;
Participates in contract analysis, negotiating most favorable terms for Company and manages pre-construction process;
Exercises care, good judgment and risk reduction practices to protect interest of company and reduce potential liabilities;
Prepares professional, effective business presentations, correspondence and reports;
Works with Project Managers and Project Superintendents in preparation of RFIs, submittals, changes orders and executing projects in accordance with contract terms and conditions, schedule and compliance requirements;
Ensures up to date, complete and accurate records, budgets, schedules, progress reports and entries into project accounting and management systems;
Participates with field operations manager in quality control inspections and improvements;
Establishes and nurtures relationships with industry professionals, suppliers, general contractors, subcontractors and public agencies;
Participates in the sourcing, selection, training and supervision of other staff as assigned;
Minimum five (5) years’ experience performing duties and responsibilities described above for U.S. commercial general contracting companies performing U.S. projects preferably within the DC-MD-VA region;
Proficient at understanding and translating construction plans, drawings, specifications and generating accurate take-offs and bids;
Proficient understanding of building codes, construction divisions, developing schedules, project critical paths, material procurement, etc.;
Excellent math, formulation, mechanical aptitude and configuration skills;
Keen attention to detail, organization and effective time management skills;
Proficient use of estimating, scheduling and project management software;
Excellent writing, grammar and presentation skills;
Excellent communication, negotiation, problem solving and relationship building skills;
Effective ability, temperament and skills to resolve conflict, work effectively under pressure and adapt effectively to changing conditions and diverse cultures;
Professional, courteous and effective disposition for motivating and nurturing business development, customer, supplier, team and other business relationships.
College degree in construction management, engineering or architecture preferred;
