This is a special, advisory position responsible for advising CMAA’s leadership team on the roles, responsibilities, and professional development and career management needs of professional construction managers (CMs). The incumbent reports to the President & CEO. This is a part-time, two-year contract position.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provide advice and counsel to the President and CEO and CMAA’s leadership team on the roles, responsibilities, and professional development needs of CMAA’s members and member organizations in order to ensure the following:
CMAA delivers high quality CM professional development programs to members, their clients, and the industry.
Content for CMAA national meetings and conferences is current, meaningful, and reflective of current best practices in the profession.
Educational offerings address the full-range of needs at each stage of a professional construction manager’s career.
Technical publications are accurate and reflective of current best practices in the profession.
2. Advise the Vice President, Professional Development in his/her role as liaison with CMAA‘s Professional Development, Standards of Practice, and other committees. 3. Research professional construction management issues & concerns, develop and acquire educational content, mine existing CMAA content to identify material demonstrating the value of using professional CM services on capital projects, develop appropriate instructional material and publications.
Bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by a U.S. regional accrediting agency (or equivalent); advanced degree preferred
5-8 years management and supervisory experience in as a professional construction manager
Demonstrated leadership and business acumen
Recent experience (last five years) as a CMAA education content leader or subject matter expert
INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the President & CEO of CMAA Works closely with CMAA staff leaders to ensure the needs of CM/CCMs are met through CMAA programs, products, and services
EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS: Standards of Practice Committee Professional Development Committee
Telecommuting is allowed.
Additional Salary Information: This is a two-year, part-time, temporary engagement. The incumbent will be required to be in-residence at CMAA offices 40 hours per month and may work remotely all other times. The individual will be required to participate in committee conference calls as needed, and to attend the Capital Projects Symposium and National Conference and Expo annually.
