The Manager of Project Management, Planning & Space reports to the Director of Physical Plant and is responsible for the planning, coordination, and control of building / renovation construction projects from inception to completion. The Manager ensures that client’s needs for project functionality and standards are met, manages project timeline, and adjusts for construction delays and emergencies. The manager is also responsible for facility capital investment planning and reporting on space related data.
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field
Eight to ten years of increasingly responsible experience in an architectural or engineering field with involvement in the design and construction or renovation of major institutional building types.
A relevant combination of education and experience in an architectural or engineering field with involvement in design and construction or renovation of major institutional building types.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read and understand construction documents, specifications, contracts
Must be familiar with standard construction specifications and construction means and methods required to accomplish a general project, i.e., equipment, tools, trade needs, etc.
Working knowledge of architectural programming processes
Must be flexible in work style; able to work effectively with project representatives and workers from all fields
Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
Ability to build a team in a group of diverse disciplines; must function as part of a team and collaborate effectively with others
Ability to effectively supervise other professionals and support staff
Ability to use CADD
Requires knowledge of program development
